Nepal’s First Bachelor Program in AI & Data Science Launched by Pokhara University — A New Era in Higher Education
Pokhara University has officially introduced Nepal’s first-ever Bachelor level program in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Data Science, marking a significant milestone in the evolution of the country’s higher education system. This innovative program is currently being conducted at Shramik Shanti Campus, located in Chyasal, Lalitpur, and has already successfully completed its first semester with promising student engagement and academic progress.
Following a comprehensive academic review, the university has now finalized the complete syllabus structure from the 2nd to the 8th semester, ensuring a well-organized and future-oriented curriculum. This four-year undergraduate program is carefully designed to meet global standards, with a strong emphasis on practical and industry-relevant skills.
The program carries a total of 122 credit hours and focuses heavily on lab-based learning, hands-on projects, and real-world application development. Key areas of study include Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Cybersecurity, Machine Learning, and the ethical and responsible use of AI technologies. This approach aims to prepare students not just academically, but also professionally, enabling them to tackle real-world challenges with confidence.
One of the major highlights of this program is its commitment to practical exposure. Students will have opportunities to participate in internships with AI-related companies and government organizations, particularly in roles such as data analysts and technology assistants. Currently, the program offers 48 seats, maintaining a competitive and focused learning environment.
